Welcome Wren Ganin-Pinto, Musical Prayer Leader in Training!

We’re thrilled to announce that Wren Ganin-Pinto will be joining our bima team as a Musical Prayer Leader in training, beginning in December. Wren is working with Hazzan Shulamit, and will be leading parts of some Shabbat morning services (starting on December 12!). Wren will also join the MPL team for the 2021-22 Bar/Bat Mitzvah class.

Wren’s gift of song has followed them to various settings from their youth in musical theater and dance to rituals and ceremonies in Jewish and non-Jewish communities. Wren is committed to faith and justice work and is pursuing a path of ordination as an Interfaith Minister and Chaplain.

Part of their studies include exploring their Jewish ancestral roots from both Eastern Europe and Morocco through song and prayer practice. As such, they are holding the space for the Sephardi/Mizrahi Affinity group at Kehilla.

They have co-produced a prayerful album to support the journey of death and dying and are led to bring spirit-filled song from the streets to the hospital bed.

Wren has also been an educator and mentor for over fifteen years and has served in that capacity at Kehilla school and in the B’nei Mitzvah program, which is dear to them in these times. Their love and partner and sweet senior dog bring much joy to each day.

Wren is the first addition to our MPL team in more than 10 years, when Beth Dickinson came on. We are so grateful and excited to bring Wren’s deep and powerful musical leadership to our Kehilla Community. Please join us in welcoming Wren!
