Susan has been a member of Kehilla since 2012 and currently serves on the Member Engagement Committee. Raised in the Reform tradition and confirmed as a teenager, she later discovered a deep connection with Reconstructionist Judaism. She previously belonged to congregations in Brooklyn, NY, and South Orange, NJ, before settling in California.
Professionally, Susan brings decades of experience in executive leadership, strategy, and organizational development. She has served as Vice President at AOL, Senior Director at Yahoo!, and Executive Director at Hack the Hood and The Crucible. In these roles, she has led dynamic teams, launched impactful programs, and helped organizations thrive during periods of growth and transformation. Currently, she works as a consultant with mission-driven nonprofits, supporting executive leaders in building strong, values-driven organizations.
Susan’s Jewish and spiritual journey is expressed through her creative work. She is the author of ” The Angelic Alphabet, ” a poetry collection that explores mysticism and transformation, and she continues to write about the intersections of justice, spirit, and everyday life.
She’s a devoted grandma and aunt, a passionate gardener and cook, an avid reader and hiker—and yes, she lifts weights too. She’s grateful to be part of Kehilla’s evolving, vibrant community.
