In this five week course\, we will learn the letters and vowels using fun visual and aural mnemonics. SUMMARY:Adult Trope Class
DESCRIPTION:Taught by: Hazzan Shulamit Wise Fairman \nWeekly on Thursdays from 7:15-8:45 pm\, 8 sessions\, in person only \nJoin Hazzan Shulamit for this eight week IN-PERSON only course to learn trope\, the musical system for chanting Torah from the scroll. Students must plan to attend all sessions\, and home practice between classes\, multiple times a week\, is required to keep up with the course. Carrying a tune is not required – If you are not sure if your voice is good enough\, it is!  \nThe goal of this course is to make you ready to independently prepare verses of Torah to chant. At Kehilla\, there are opportunities throughout the year for community members to chant Torah.  \nNecessary Prerequisite:  \nYou must be able to de-code Hebrew confidently and accurately: knowing the Hebrew Alef Bet letters and vowels and being able to sound out Hebrew words. Decoding Hebrew is completely integral to your study between classes and all our activities during class.  If you would like to take the class\, email Rabbi SAM to set up a 15 minute Hebrew decoding check in.  \nThis class has a 15 student maximum. Participants in Kehilla’s Adult B’Mitzvah Program have priority. If the class fills up\, we will start a wait list.  \nPlease note: This class is not a drop-in course. DESCRIPTION:Taught by Rabbi SAM Luckey  \n  \nCome learn to decode the alef-bet! In this five week course\, we will learn the letters and vowels using fun visual and aural mnemonics. Home practice between classes is highly encouraged. \nWhether this is your first encounter with these 22 holy gateways or eighteenth\, we will build a foundation for reading sacred Hebrew texts such as Torah\, Talmud\, and liturgy. This class will prepare you to join a trope class\, a 700 Benches talmud class\, or other workshops that involve studying Hebrew or Aramaic texts in their original languages. \n  \nTuesday evenings from 7:30 to 8:45 pm ONLINE for 5 sessions \n  \nDates: \nJanuary 21 and 28; February 4\, 11\, and 18 \n  \nCost: \n\nMembers: $87 for series\nNon-members: $100 for series\n\n → Plus a workbook that costs $18\, ordered separately* \n  \nNOTE: You will need to order the book from Torah Aura: L’shon Ha-Kodesh. SUMMARY:Adult Trope Class
DESCRIPTION:Taught by: Hazzan Shulamit Wise Fairman \nWeekly on Thursdays from 7:15-8:45 pm\, 8 sessions\, in person only \nJoin Hazzan Shulamit for this eight week IN-PERSON only course to learn trope\, the musical system for chanting Torah from the scroll. Students must plan to attend all sessions\, and home practice between classes\, multiple times a week\, is required to keep up with the course. Carrying a tune is not required – If you are not sure if your voice is good enough\, it is!  \nThe goal of this course is to make you ready to independently prepare verses of Torah to chant. At Kehilla\, there are opportunities throughout the year for community members to chant Torah.  \nNecessary Prerequisite:  \nYou must be able to de-code Hebrew confidently and accurately: knowing the Hebrew Alef Bet letters and vowels and being able to sound out Hebrew words. Decoding Hebrew is completely integral to your study between classes and all our activities during class.  If you would like to take the class\, email Rabbi SAM to set up a 15 minute Hebrew decoding check in.  \nThis class has a 15 student maximum. Participants in Kehilla’s Adult B’Mitzvah Program have priority. If the class fills up\, we will start a wait list.  \nPlease note: This class is not a drop-in course.
