Organizational Development FAQs

Organizational development (OD) is a critical process that helps organizations build their capacity to change and achieve greater effectiveness by developing, improving, and reinforcing strategies, structures, and processes.

Kehilla’s membership growth and ambitions have outsized our capacity; a consultant/s will help our organization evaluate its current condition and desires, set priorities and align its staffing, organizational design, and resources with the congregation’s needs and desires.



Kehilla has a wonderful staff and amazing volunteer leaders all of whom are hard at work leading the congregation.  OD is a special skill that requires specific expertise and experience.

The Kehilla Board of Directors established this committee of senior Kehilla staff, board, and other volunteer leaders to guide the congregation’s OD efforts.  The OD Committee has drafted a Request for Proposals (RFP).  The OD Committee will review responses to the RFP, select the consultant, and oversee and guide the process.

Please note: While Kehilla can count many talented consultants among our membership, this RFP is for an external consultant or consulting team only. Please reach out to learn other ways you might become involved.

Of course, we want to hear from as many qualified bidders as possible.

A consultant will be selected by the OD Committee based on their responses to our RFP.  In Phase 1 of the project, the consultant will design and facilitate an Inclusive Assessment Process, conduct an Internal Assessment, create a Findings and Recommendations Report, and facilitate a process to identify priority issues to address. In Phase 2, the consultant will work in close collaboration with Kehilla’s OD Committee to guide implementation of OD planning efforts that address the most pressing priorities identified in Phase 1.

The RFP has been shared with the congregation, friends of Kehilla, and potential consultants. The OD Committee intends to select a consultant by the end of the first quarter of 2024. Phase 1 will probably take six to eight months depending on the consultant’s recommendations.  We can’t begin planning Phase 2 until we have results from Phase 1.

Proposals are due by Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

The OD Committee will be working with the consultant/s to ensure that Kehilla members will have input into the process.  Details will be worked out with the consultant/s.
