Finding Holiness Here
How and where do we find holiness in a world that is crumbling? Our traditions are born from our people’s narrowest places, and they offer us a spiritual map for times like ours. Letting ourselves move to the rhythms of our holiest days, we can touch into awe, wonder, joy and connection. May this season water our roots, strengthen our bonds of relationship and community, support us to resist the fracturing that enables authoritarian control, help us to meet our fears with openness and curiosity, and guide us in the ways of awe, compassion and love.

Join us for an extra special Shabbat and Sukkot morning service with Rabbi Dev Noily, Hazzan Shulamit Wise Fairman, Julie Nesnansky and Debbie Fier, joined by our klezmorim (musicians) Diane and Josh Wirtschafter (vocals and violin) and Sharon Grodin (accordion) along with R’ Dev (trumpet)! We will pray for rain, sing Hallel, shake lulav, and circle ‘round in Hakafot as we affirm all we want to co-create in this world. Kiddush in the Sukkah– please bring some labeled vegetarian food to share!
Join Kehilla (Community Synagogue), Or Shalom Jewish Community and Bay Area Jews 4 Justice at KEHILLA for a joyous and multi-generational celebration of Torah! We’ll begin by unrolling and holding in our hands the entire Torah scroll. While open, we’ll tour many of its special spots (great for kids!), and then read the very final verses of Torah, followed directly by its first. Then it’s time for a rocking dance party with our amazing Simchat Torah Klezmer band, led by Mike Perlmutter on clarinet, featuring Diane Wirtschafter on vocals, and our epic 20+ member band!
5:30-6:30 Dinner – BYO + Food Vendor (Mask-optional in the Social Hall and outdoors in the Courtyard)
6:30-7:30 Torah Unfurling & Reading (mask-required, in the Sanctuary)
7:30-9:30 Hakafot and Dance Party (mask-optional in the Social Hall and outdoors in the Courtyard)
Please join us on time, as Torah unfurling is a practice that, quite literally, requires us all.
