Saturday, April 27 @ 4:45pm

Location: Kehilla Social Hall

Grand Avenue in Oakland, California

Join us for an in-person Passover Community Seder continuing to explore the High Holy Day themes of connecting to Source and replenishing our souls, woven together with opening our hearts and our imaginations. Co-led by Fresh ‘Lev’ White, Oreget Adamah (Earth Weaver) Ore Ganin-Pinto and Rabbi SAM Luckey with a special teaching from Fresh ‘Lev’ White.

We will re-enter the Exodus story through Ashkenazi and Sephardi song, food and ritual. The evening features an exquisitely delicious Sephardic-inspired seder meal catered by chef Jesse Bloom’s Sacred Kitchen SF. The seder will be mainly vegan with fish and gluten-free options. Kehilla does not provide wine (we will have grape juice!), but you are welcome to bring your own if you so choose.

Participants are invited to bring things to add to the Ancestors and Compassion altar, such as photos of personal and/or movement ancestors, natural items like a stone or flower, or something small that connects you to your ancestors.

Space is limited! We recommend getting your tickets soon.

There are several options for ticket prices.

  • General Public: $98
  • Kehilla Member: $85
  • General Public Reduced Cost-Option: $75
  • Kehilla Member Reduced Cost-Option: $65
  • Volunteer: $55
  • Children 5-12: $45

COVID Safety

Due to the nature of this ritual, we will be eating throughout the evening. This event takes place indoors, with a limited outdoor option available (see more details below), and is mask optional. Therefore, all participants are required to take a COVID-19 rapid antigen test on the day of the seder. In the event of a positive test result or if you experience ANY symptoms of a potential contagious illness, we kindly ask that you remain at home (your presence will be missed, and unfortunately we won’t be able to provide a refund).

Outdoor Seating

To be as inclusive as we can be (for a food related ritual!), we are offering outdoor seating for this seder. We want to make sure that if you choose this option, you are aware of a few things:

  • We are prioritizing outdoor seating for those with Covid safety access needs.
  • Seating will be in the courtyard just outside the social hall. There is no clear sight line to the leadership table from the outdoor seating. We will have an audio speaker outside for amplification.
  • If there is any chance of rain the day of or on surrounding days, we will need to cancel outdoor seating tickets. We will let you know if we need to cancel outdoor tickets on Monday, April 22, and a refund will be given in this case. If you choose an outdoor ticket, you must sit outdoors as we will likely sell out of indoor tickets.

Volunteer Option

Volunteers make this community seder possible and receive a discounted ticket price (If you wish to volunteer and are able to pay the full price, there is a donation option below to help others who cannot). If you select a volunteer option, you MUST be available to arrive at Kehilla at 2:30 pm on April 27, the day of the seder, for (fun!) set-up and registration tasks in the social hall.

Accessibility

The Kehilla Social Hall is wheelchair-accessible from the Grand Avenue entrance, at the door behind the bus stop, and there is disabled parking in the Kehilla parking lot. We ask all attendees to adhere to our no-scent policy. If you have other access needs, please share them in your registration below. Zero-gravity chairs are available upon request. Write to rachelv@kehillasynagogue.org with other access questions.

No One Turned Away for Lack of Funds

We want to make sure that the Seder is accessible regardless of financial or volunteer availability. If our cost is prohibitive to you, please email Rachel at rachelv@kehillasynagogue.org with the discount you need (please use increments of $10) in order to receive a discount code and instructions to complete your registration.

Our costs are based on the expenses of the caterer, therefore, we can only give out a limited number of discount codes.

For questions about the event, please contact rachelv@kehillasynagogue.org.
