SUMMARY:MULTI-ACCESS At The Scottish Rite Center: Erev Rosh Hashanah
DESCRIPTION:Sanctuary opens at 6:15 pm. Main service starts at 7:00 pm. \nTickets are required for nonmembers (All Access or Virtual Only). \nWelcome the new year\, celebrate the birthday of the world\, and gather with our community as we face this moment together\, and begin to draw on the practices of this season to sustain us and uplift us in difficult times. \nTeaching by Cecilie Surasky from the Othering and Belonging Institute. Service led by Rabbi Dev Noily\, Fresh Lev White and Hazzan Shulamit Wise Fairman with Musical Prayer Leaders Beth Dickinson and Debbie Fier\, joined by Julie Nesnansky and Avi Rose. \n… \nCecilie invites us to reflect: \nWe belong to each other. When we say those words\, who is the “we\,” and what do we mean by “belong?” In a time of growing war\, polarization and incapacitating grief\, Cecilie Surasky will explore the urgency of resetting our spiritual and political GPS toward expanding our sense of who belongs\, instead of contracting it. Drawing on her lifetime of political organizing\, experience with traumatic grief\, and the work of the Othering & Belonging Institute at UC Berkeley\, she will pose the question: What would it take from each of us to hold each other’s humanity sacred\, and chart a truly radical course of belonging without othering? \n… \nZoom participants: You may want to have candles to light with us at the beginning of service\, challah and wine or juice for Kiddush and Motzi after services. \n  \nFor in-person attendance\, please adhere to the COVID Public Health Protocols: \nKehilla requires masking at all in-person\, indoor events. See the full Kehilla COVID Public Health Protocols here\, and see other accessibility information here. \nAll events at Kehilla are scent-free. Click here for information about what it means to be scent-free. \n  \nMore info and tickets here.

SUMMARY:MULTI-ACCESS: Yizkor (Memorial) Service
DESCRIPTION:Multi-Access at Kehilla Synagogue.  \nYizkor (Memorial) Service from 5:00-5:45 pm \nNo tickets required. \nLed by Avi Rose\, Hazzan Shulamit Wise Fairman\, Ore Ganin-Pinto and Debbie Fier. Yizkor\, on Yom Kippur afternoon\, is our service to remember those who have died in years past\, in contrast to those we are mourning more recently. We look forward to sharing in this powerful practice of remembrance together as a community. \nPrepare for Yizkor with the Scroll of Memory or Zoom Quilt of Memory!  \nVirtual and In-Person Options  \nWe invite you to prepare to participate in one or two ways:  \n1) We will create a virtual Zoom Quilt of Memory during the Yizkor service while the physical Scroll of Memory is being revealed in the sanctuary. \nCreate one 11”x 8.5” paper with names listed of people you are remembering who have died in years past\, which can be made ahead of the service\, or you can hold up photos (remove from glass frames to reduce glare) during this part of the service. Together we will create an online quilt of names and images in gallery view on your device. \n2) There will be a Yizkor Scroll of Memory at the Scottish Rite Centers 4th Floor lobby outside of the sanctuary – a cloth scroll on which we write the names of beloveds who have died in years past. \nYou can write on the scroll during High Holy Day services if you are attending in-person. The Scroll will be unfurled during the Yizkor service in the Kehilla Sanctuary\, while the Zoom Quilt of Memory is being created. \nFor the Zoom link\, click HERE \nFor in-person attendance\, please adhere to the COVID Public Health Protocols: \nKehilla requires masking at all in-person\, indoor events.
