SUMMARY:IN-PERSON: Regional Council for Unrecognized Villages (RCUV) Leaders in Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Lobna Sana and Yeela Raanan in conversation with R’ David Cooper. The RCUV works to address the significant challenges facing the Bedouin population in the Negev from the unrecognized villages\, advocating for their rights and needs. They have helped shape a master plan for the remaining unrecognized villages\, ensuring these plans reflect the cultural and societal needs of the communities. Beyond advocacy\, the council steps in to provide essential services\, from establishing kindergartens to distributing food stamps\, demonstrating their deep commitment to the wellbeing of the Bedouin communities.\n\nThe Negev is home to approximately 300\,000 Arabs\, making up around 40% of the region’s population. Despite their numbers\, the land they occupy is disproportionately small\, with nearly half of these residents living in unrecognized villages that span just 3.5% of the Negev’s vast area. Central to their struggle is a mere 1.5% of the total land in the Negev\, a critical point of contention that has deep implications for these communities.\n\n\nFor more information\, contact: Facetoface@kehillasynagogue.org

SUMMARY:Renewing Kehilla: Virtual Kick Off for Kehilla’s Organizational Development Process
DESCRIPTION:Register Here! \nKehilla’s leadership has been working toward launching an organizational development process for more than five years\, and we’re thrilled to finally begin. Over the past eight years\, our beloved community has grown by 50%—a testament to the vibrant\, welcoming space we’ve created together. Now\, we’re embarking on a thoughtful process to ensure our organizational structures and processes can fully support our thriving community of nearly 1\,000 members. \nBuilding on our 2020–21 Arc of Change/anti-racism work to deepen our commitment to centering people of color\, this process will help us address key questions: \n\nHow can we make it easier for people to find connection and belonging?\nWhat would help us build stronger relationships and mutual accountability?\nHow can newer members contribute their wisdom to our shared culture?\nHow do we move forward together as a larger community?\nHow do we ensure financial sustainability while maintaining our values?\n\n  \nThis gathering marks the beginning of our work with Dragonfly Partners\, consultants selected by the Organizational Development (OD) Committee through an extensive and thoughtful process. The OD Committee’s selection process was guided by our commitment to multi-access participation\, diffuse shared leadership\, and belonging for all members of our community. Multiple stakeholders were involved in the evaluation\, including new members\, BIPOC members\, disabled members\, staff\, lay leaders\, committee\, and board representatives. \nDragonfly Partners brings deep organizational development and racial equity experience working with progressive Jewish organizations. The gathering will be facilitated by Dragonfly consultants Amadee Braxton\, Noah T. Winer\, and Sara Joffe.  You can expect: \n\nAn introduction to the Dragonfly team\nAn overview of the Renewing Kehilla process and avenues for community input and participation\nAn opportunity to make suggestions\, ask questions and engage with the consultants and the Design Team (the Kehilla group shepherding this process)\n\n  \nPlease join us on Wednesday\, December 11th from 5:00 to 6:30pm to kick off our Renewing Kehilla organizational development process. \nTogether\, we’ll envision better ways for members to connect to Kehilla\, to each other\, to Jewish spiritual practice\, and to tikkun olam—while building a stronger foundation for our next 40 years. At this moment when community is more important than ever\, we invite you to join the sacred task of expanding our vision of what Kehilla can be and moving our beloved community in a sustainable direction. \nPlease register to join us in this important conversation by Zoom.
