VIRTUAL: White Folx Decentering Whiteness Affinity Group Mtg.

November 15 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Please email us for the zoom link: wfdwhitenesscontact@kehillasynagogue.org

This month we’re doing something different as we’re meeting this month on Wednesday, November 15, from 6:30-8:30 pm.

Penny Rosenwasser will facilitate the beginning of this meeting and then pass it off to the Community Educators Work Group. The WFDW are offering our space and meeting time for a very special BYSTANDER TRAINING – open to EVERYONE – led by the Community Educators Work Group. See below, join us!

When Standing By Is Not Enough: The 5Ds of Bystander Intervention

The goal of this training is to become more aware and prepared to tackle the harms that various populations endure. It will build our repertoire of skills and tools to stop harassment and other negative behaviors.

The upcoming training is open to all Kehilla members, not just members of White Folks Decentering Whiteness. It will encompass lessons about how to intervene in difficult situations where vulnerable populations are targeted. We will share the 5Ds (Direct, Distract, Delay, Delegate, Document), a framework that encourages us to DO SOMETHING when we notice incidents of harm.*

Highly-encouraged but not mandatory: if possible, please read/watch this homework listed below, before attending the training, thank you!

We will have group discussion and join together in small groups to explore various scenarios.

*We are using the 5-D model of the organization Right to Be (formerly Hollaback).
