Join us for Shabbat Morning Service with Rabbi David J Cooper. Thanksgiving is a ritual time when generations get together and celebrate. And sometimes, inter and intramural-generational conflicts surface during these gatherings. Parshat Toldot is a good biblical story about conflicts in the family. Children feeling unseen by their parent. A father and mother in conflict over their offspring. The children plunged into their parents’ conflict… While we will chant from a part of the parashah, we will read Genesis 27 in its entirety in English. And we will look at excerpts from two other parshiot to see Jacob years later seeks to address his internalized childhood conflicts.
If you want to leyn, the aliyot are Breyshit 27:11-13; 27:14-19; 27:20-23. Contact Rabbi David if you want to chant Torah.
