Join Rabbi David Cooper and Ore Ganin-Pinto for a celebratory Shabbat morning service and the holiday of Shemini Atzeret. This holiday is tagged onto the end of Sukkot. In ancient times, the entire Jewish Holiday cycle was only six months long during the warmer months starting on Passover and ending on Shemini Atzeret. (There was no Chanukah, Tu Bishvat or Purim in the Torah.) Then everyone left to go and stay at home for the rainy winter months. Today’s Torah readings describe sacrifices and celebrations. We will discuss how sacrifice and celebration are interwoven both in the Bible and in our lives today.
