Kehilla’s Community In-Gathering Retreat 5784 / 2024

July 6 @ 10:00 am - 5:15 pm

Join us for Kehilla’s In-Gathering Retreat!

Location: Kehilla Community Synagogue 1300 Grand Ave. Piedmont, CA

This year, we will be centered in and around our beloved building with sessions offered indoors and outdoors. We will open Shabbat services enriched by a Kehilla Klezmer Hallel (special songs for the new month). We’ll share a catered Shabbat lunch from Oasis; join Rabbi Dev and Hazzan Shulamit for a casual conversation; participate in community-building gatherings focused on art, spirituality, and nature; play games, and schmooze, schmooze, schmooze. This is a family-friendly event with something to do for people of all ages! Children under 11 are free.

Schedule:

  • 10:00 am – 12:20 pm: Multi-Access Shabbat Service featuring Hallel with the Kehilla Klezmer band
  • 10:00 am – 5:00 pm (except for lunchtime): Children’s Activities led by Kaiya Garcia, Director of Kehilla School
  • 10:30 am – 11:00 am: Tot Shabbat with Jen and Alon and their Puppet Friends
  • 12:20 pm – 1:20 pm: Kiddush and Lunch
  • 1:30 pm – 2:45 pm: Session 1 Small Gatherings (full descriptions linked below)
  • 3:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Multi-Access Informal Conversation with Rabbi Dev and Hazzan Shulamit. This is a chance for them to share a little about themselves and their experience as our Spiritual Leaders. There will be time for questions and conversation.

  • 5:00 pm – 5:15 pm: Closing Circle

Information Specific to Children and the Children’s Activity Hub

Children 5 and older are welcome to come by the children’s activity hub lead by Kehilla School’s Kaiya Garcia and Emma Regev. This might be most needed during Shabbat services and the conversation with Rabbi Dev and Hazzan Shulamit. Children younger than 5 are invited to hang out in the children’s activity hub with their adult. All but one of our small gatherings are “family-friendly”.

COVID Safety

We will follow Kehilla’s COVID Safety Policy for this In-Gathering Retreat. Masks are required in the sanctuary, and in areas where food is prepared or served. While eating lunch and snacks in the Social Hall and Courtyard, masks are optional. Outside spaces including the Courtyard and Parking Lot will be used for some of the afternoon sessions. Inside sessions will be masked.

While we do not require it, we recommend taking a COVID-19 rapid antigen test the day of the In-Gathering. In the event of a positive test result, or if you experience ANY symptoms of a potential contagious illness, we kindly ask that you remain at home (your presence will be missed, and unfortunately we won’t be able to provide a refund).

Accessibility

Kehilla is wheelchair-accessible from multiple entrances. We ask all attendees to adhere to our no-scent policy. If you have access needs, please share them in your registration below.
