What is teshuvah (relationship repair)? What is atonement? What is Yom Kippur? In this 5-week beit midrash (text study workshop) you’ll learn ancient Jewish texts (Mishnah and Talmud) in their original language, explore Talmud study as a spiritual practice, and co-create a supportive, queer-normative community of study. All you need to begin is your alef-bet (Hebrew alphabet).

Time: Tuesdays 6:30 – 9 pm

Location: IN-PERSON at Kehilla – 1300 Grand Ave. Piedmont, CA

Dates:

  • August 23, 30
  • September 6, 13, 20

Beit Midrash Orientation:* Tuesday August 23rd 5:30 – 6:30 pm

*The Beit Midrash Orientation is required for people who haven’t learned before with 700 Benches, SVARA, or another SVARA-style Beit Midrash before. Returning students are welcome at the Orientation session, but are not required to attend.

Registration deadline: by the end of Friday, August 19th

Capacity is limited to 30 students. If we reach capacity (unlikely), you will be notified and put on a wait list.

We recommend having a Jastrow dictionary with you. If you don’t have one, you can use the online Jastrow dictionary. We will not be needing a Frank dictionary.
