Sacred Land Committee

About the Sacred Land Committee

The Sacred Land Committee is dedicated to honoring the heritage of the Lisjan Ohlone people as well as our own Jewish heritage. Our vision is to bring the unceded land (called Huchiun) of the Lisjan Ohlone people, on which Kehilla rests, into harmony with Indigenous and Jewish values. We will landscape the outside spaces to reflect the values of an ecosystem connected and integrated with the land and its spirit. If you enjoy gardening with a vision of environmental integrity, we invite you to join us.

We are exploring what it means to honor the heritage of the Lisjan Ohlone people while tending the land. What does it mean to bring our land into harmony with its past and present while envisioning a future healthy relationship with the land? One part of this relationship is to cultivate plants that are significant to Indigenous and/or Jewish cultures.
