You are invited to come learn with 700 Benches, a SVARA-method beit midrash (house of study; more information about SVARA is at www.svara.org).
In this 6-week beit midrash, you’ll learn ancient Jewish texts in their original language, explore Talmud study as a spiritual practice, and co-create a supportive, queer-normative community of study. All you need to begin is your alef-bet (Hebrew alphabet) and to be able to commit to all six sessions. Whether you’re a newbie or an expert, we invite you to join us. We’ve saved you a seat.
For new students, the learning begins on January 6th, with an orientation to our philosophy and method of Talmud study. Returning students are welcome at the January 6th session, but are not required to attend.
This class will be co-taught by Rabbi Dev Noily and Rabbi Gray Myrseth. Sessions will take place Monday evenings from 6:45-9:15pm on January 13th, 20th, and 27th, and February 3rd, 10th, and 24th. Note: there is no class on February 17th.
