ONLINE – Varieties of Alternative Jewish Theologies

Saturday, November 14 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every month that begins at 4:00 pm on day Second of the month, repeating until Saturday, February 13, 2021

Taught by: A Rabbi’s “Tisch” series with Rabbi David J. Cooper

Second Saturdays: Nov 14, Dec 12, Jan 9, Feb 13 at 4:00pm (PT)

There is a misconception that there is a single Jewish way of belief about God. Our Jewish theologies have evolved over time and differ within each time period and even within each community. Moreover, each of us can operate within ourselves with different relationships to God or the concept of God. This survey class is to enable people to consider and to honor their own theological (or atheological) and spiritual perspectives.

Nov. 14: Martin Buber and Emanuel Levinas

Dec. 12: Mordecai Kaplan and Sherwin Wine

Jan. 9: The Baal Shem Tov and the Kotzker Rebbe

Feb. 13: Baruch Spinoza and Albert Einstein
