Begins Tuesday, April 21, 7-9pm
Taught by Rabbi Dev Noily
The rabbis of the Talmud shook the ancient Torah by its dusty lapels and demanded that it speak its sacred truths to them, to illuminate their lives and to guide their experience in their own time. This scrappy community of seekers developed a brilliant system of interpretation, called midrash.
Midrash unlocks the Torah’s hidden meanings and surfaces the unexamined questions in the Torah’s text, opening up spaces where the most pressing conversations can take place. We’ll learn the ingenious interpretive technologies of midrash, and then we’ll dive into some midrashic texts together. Texts will be available in Hebrew and in English and no knowledge of Hebrew is required.
