March 31, 2017 @ 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm

On 50 years of Occupation with Noam Sheizaf:

Shabbat Potluck–6:30pm; Presentation –7:30pm

In Partnership with: Kehilla’s Middle East Peace Committee New Israel Fund & NIF’s New Generations

Join Kehilla’s Middle East Peace Committee and The New Israel Fund for a Shabbat Potluck and talk by media expert Noam Sheizaf who will explore Israeli public discourse around the occupation over the decades and how the media fails to accurately understand or portray the conflict.

Noam is an expert on journalism and the media in Israel. He was the founding editor of +972 Magazine and consults for The Whistle, a new citizen’s media watchdog group. Previously Noam worked for Maariv and Ynet News and taught journalism at the Camera Obscure College. His work has been published in Haaretz, Maariv, The Daily Beast, The Nation and Foreign Affairs. He lives with his family in Tel Aviv.

Noam will discuss why Israelis do not rise up en masse even as Israeli military rule in the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza has becomes more and more entrenched and groups like B’Tselem work to expose what occurs just a few miles away over the Green Line.

Kehilla Community Synagogue Social Hall (wheelchair accessible). Please bring a vegetarian dish to share.
