An event every week that begins at 7:15pm on Thursday, repeating until March 22, 2018
Hazzan Shulamit will teach an 8-session class for adult students who want to learn a musical system for chanting Torah, in a warm and supportive setting.
You will learn how to turn all those dots and squiggles around the Hebrew letters into chanted ancient text.
No prior music training is required and you don’t have to have a great voice! Students must be comfortable phonetically reading Hebrew, though no comprehension is necessary. Busting this exciting move will require study between classes, ideally 4-5 days a week for 10-15 minutes.
The class will use “The Art of Torah Cantillation” by Portnoy and Wolff. Students should order the book as soon as possible in order to have it available by the first session.
