Sandy Emerson and David Elliston, two experts on environmentally responsible investing, will conduct a seminar on how to move your money out of financial instruments (stocks, bonds, funds) that invest in the fossil fuel industry, and thus fuel climate change, and into environmentally friendly and sustainable options. Years of research has shown clearly this can be done without sacrificing financial return; returns have actually been better for “green” investments.
The session will also cover banking — many banks invest in projects such as the Keystone XL Pipeline, extraction of shale oil from the Canadian tar sands, and drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and Alaska — and credit cards. The presentation will be relevant to people at various income levels and stages.
Whether you’re just starting to evaluate your banking and investment choices or have been wrestling with these issues for years, you can get information and support for moving your money out of polluting banks and investments and into the clean energy economy.
In the Fireside Room at Kehilla, 1300 Grand Avenue, Piedmont, CA 94610
