This documentary by Kehilla members Alan Snitow and Deborah Kaufmann is a candid look at the way the American Jewish community has been bitterly divided over attitudes toward Israel and Jewish identity. The film begins by detailing the controversy that raged when the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival showed a documentary about Rachel Corrie, and broadens to include a battle over divestment from Israel on a university campus. The film’s overall focus, however, is the debate over what Jewish values are and who gets to decide what being Jewish means. It may be a problem without a solution, but that makes for an involving film.
This is the third and final film in the series presented by Kehilla’s Middle East Peace Committee.
