An event every week that begins at 6:45 pm on Monday, repeating until May 13, 2019
You are invited to come learn with 700 Benches, a SVARA-style beit midrash (house of study) created as a collaboration of Kehilla Community Synagogue and Chochmat HaLev (more information about SVARA is at www.svara.org).
In this 6-week beit midrash, you’ll learn ancient Jewish texts in their original language, explore Talmud study as a spiritual practice, and co-create a supportive, queer-normative community of study. All you need to begin is your alef-bet (Hebrew alphabet) and to be able to commit to all six sessions. Whether you’re a newbie or an expert, we invite you to join us. We’ve saved you a seat.
For new students, the learning begins on March 25th, with a Crash Talk (orientation to SVARA’s philosophy of Talmud study) and beit midrash orientation. Returning students are welcome at the March 25th session, but are not required to attend.
This class meets Monday evenings from 6:45-9:15pm on April 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd, and May 6th and 13th. Note: there is no class on April 29th.
$130 for members of Kehilla or Chochmat haLev, $160 general. No one turned away for inability to pay. To discuss financial aid email firstname.lastname@example.org.
